My Smartphone Is My Worst Enemy For Being Productive
As I mentioned the other day, habits help me be more productive. However, some habits can be very bad for productivity. In my case, my phone has become a constant source of distraction. Perhaps it’s the 171 apps that I have installed or the 108 open tabs in my browser.
Mindful Phone Use
A few months ago while listening to a podcast, I came across Tristan Harris and the Center for Humane Technology He is a big advocate for mindful phone use. In this Medium post, he shares a few tips to set up your iPhone and minimize distractions such as:
- Only add the most essential apps to your home screen. Avoid apps that can be an infinite source of distraction like social media or email.
- Type the name of the app you want to open instead of scrolling for a more conscious use of your phone.
- Turn off all your notifications except when people are trying to reach you.
I encourage you to check his post if you often get distracted by your phone. It can be a game changer for you!
