My Smartphone Is My Worst Enemy For Being Productive

As I mentioned the other day, habits help me be more productive. However, some habits can be very bad for productivity. In my case, my phone has become a constant source of distraction. Perhaps it’s the 171 apps that I have installed or the 108 open tabs in my browser.

Mindful Phone Use

A few months ago while listening to a podcast, I came across Tristan Harris and the Center for Humane Technology He is a big advocate for mindful phone use. In this Medium post, he shares a few tips to set up your iPhone and minimize distractions such as:

  1. Only add the most essential apps to your home screen. Avoid apps that can be an infinite source of distraction like social media or email.
  2. Type the name of the app you want to open instead of scrolling for a more conscious use of your phone.
  3. Turn off all your notifications except when people are trying to reach you.

I encourage you to check his post if you often get distracted by your phone. It can be a game changer for you!
